Swedish animation started to bloom in the late seventies. After Viktor Bergendahl back in 1915 not much had happened(apart from some commercials)until the mid sixties with Per Åhlin's "I Huvet på en Gammal Gubbe". He went on to do Dunderklumpen...
Another Company working in with feature film was Team Film. Headed by Stig Lasseby who started the company in 1955.
In the early seventies Sweden had gotten a second TV channel. Since most of the newly hired staff had small children, and the time was right, they focused on children programs. And that also meant animation. One of the companies who did well was POJ produktion...
Also in the seventies, The Swedish Film Institute, started producing short films and children's film in a serious manner which resulted in an elevation of Swedish animation And in the eighties Sweden turned into a superpower, as far as animation goes. The strength was the diversity, the personalities and the will to tell stories. This was in the height of the auteur era which was in sharp contrast to the industrial way.
